A wonderful new era has begun for the Calligra Suite with the launch of the Calligra version 3.0.
Calligra Suite is an office suite as well as graphic arts editor developed by KDE as a KOffie fork. It contains a word processor and a spreadsheet, a presentation program, also a database manager, also an editor for vector graphics and a digital painting application.
They have chosen to reduce the number of applications. Chalk has allowed them to be independent, and, although it was emotional ―according to Calligras sources― the fact was fully supported by both parties. They are saying goodbye to the author, who never tried to differentiate himself from Words. Likewise, have removed Braindump adjusting its functions better from the new application. Yes OK Flow and Stage are not present in this version, its intention is to reinstate them in the future.
In another vein, Kexi has its own release schedule, although it is still part of Calligra.
What's new
The 3.x series is developed on the KDE and Qt5 frameworks, that although they do not have great news ensures that Calligra stays up-to-date. Although, always according to the sources of Calligra, it was a great effort, they have not incorporated many new features.
Install Calligra
Although an ideal setting we should install the complete 'solution', this is very big, it needs around 180 megabytes to download and 500 megabytes for installation on Ubuntu 16.04 32-bit. However, this is the installation procedure:

Install packages individually
Let's clarify some concepts before starting. Por each "individual" installation of Calligra, we have packages of 100 megabytes each of the components. As surely you are thinking the sum of the installation of all components is equal to the total installation in cost of megabytes, but being able to reach five times the download time, I advise you to weigh the options based on the following situations:
- I have / I do not have enough disk space.
- I foresee / I don't foresee add another module to Calligra.
- Mi communication speed it's good / bad.
