Last year, just 4 days ago, we said goodbye with a post about Basic commands for newbies to GNU/Linux Distros based on Debian and Ubuntu. Therefore, today we will continue with a similar one to continue contributing practical and current content for themselves, that is, newbies and beginners.

Part One on Useful Linux Commands for Newbies – 2023

Commands to access files

  1. pwd - Shows the directory location where we are currently located.
  2. ls - Shows the list of files and directories contained within a specified directory.
  3. cd – Allows us to change from the current directory to another.
  4. mkdir – Allows you to create a new directory.
  5. touch- Allows you to create a new file or change the last access/modification date of a file.
  6. cp – Allows you to copy files or directories.
  7. mv – Allows you to move files or directories. And even change the name if necessary.
  8. rm – Allows you to delete files or directories.
  9. rmdir– Allows you to delete a single directory, as long as it is empty.
  10. cat - Display the content of any type of file on the screen.
  11. head – Displays the first few lines of a file. To do this, the number to be displayed must be specified.
  12. tail – Displays the last lines of a file. To do this, the number to be displayed must be specified.
  13. less – It is a file reading tool that allows you to search within the content interactively.
  14. more – A file reading tool that allows you to search within the content interactively.
  15. grep – Search tool used to search for strings in files or other command output.
