Linux Kernel 5.0: the version that worried Torvalds officially arrives

Last week, Linus Torvalds breathed a sigh of relief after lanzar the 5.0 rc8 version of the kernel it develops. After releasing rc7, the father of Linux checked his mail and saw a bug that could not be in the public versions, and we remember here that "beta" is a publicly available test version. In any case, he rushed to launch the rc8 and everything was a scare for him. Yesterday, a week later, Torvalds made the Linux Kernel 5.0 release official.

Torvalds explains again that he is happy with the delay of the Linux Kernel 5.0 release and having released rc8 last week. The rc8 was larger (heavier) than the rc7, but it seems that it has managed to compress it and get it back to the size it should have been. In addition, your happiness and tranquility also has to do with what the patch you spoke about seven days ago was not as bad as you had imagined initially. In any case, he also took the opportunity to correct other faults that he had to take into account. After all, this story has a happy ending.

Ubuntu 19.10 will arrive with Linux Kernel 5.0

Linus is working, as of today, on version 5.1 of the Linux kernel. Version 5.0 is now available for download and installation, but this is only recommended for users who have hardware problems on their PC. For example, my Lenovo had problems with the Wifi when I bought it in 2016, I updated the Kernel to a higher version that was already available and it was solved for me. That version was included in X-Buntu later and I have no longer manually updated the kernel.

The Linux Kernel 5.0, tagged as "latest stable release", is available on the web kernel.org. It is 100mb in size and is not yet available in official repositories or in .deb packages for Debian-based operating systems. At this time, the only way to enjoy it is by manual installation. In any case, if there is no setback, version 5.0 of the Linux Kernel will be one of the new features of Ubuntu 19.10 that will arrive on April 18.
