Yesterday the 30th and after several months of work, the people behind the Linux Mint Project have launched Linux Mint 17.3, operating system that has received the name of Rosa. As has already happened in previous versions, the new version comes in two versions, one with a graphical environment Cinnamon (of which you have a screenshot above these lines) and another with environment MATE, which is the interface that Ubuntu used until the arrival of Unity and Ubuntu Mate is also available, the latest flavor to become official.
Linux Mint 17.3 is based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr, the latest version Long Time Support released by Canonical. The versions of its graphical environments are Cinnamon 2.8 and MATE 1.12. You could say that Cinnamon is more visually appealing than MATE but, if I have to choose one, I prefer the more classic graphical environment that I have used in my early years with Ubuntu.
