In this next version we will see as main novelties the inclusion of desks Cinnamon 3.2 and MATE 1.16, at the same time that we miss an update of the base of the system that will still follow the line of Ubuntu LTS 16.04.

With some minor bugs still to be fixed, the next edition of Linux Mint 18.1 is ready for release in a few weeks. Meanwhile, the beta version of the same is prepared whose deployment is expected in a short space of time. The novelties that we will find in this version are the correction of the system failures found in the environment to date and the two updates that the main desktops of this famous distribution will suffer: MATE 1.16 and Cinnamon 3.2.

Por el momento problems related to MDM and Cinnamon are being solved in the screensavers of Linux Mint Debian Edition and Slackware, which must be corrected before carrying out an official launch on this desktop.

Respecto a We will see MATE 1.16 in Linux Mint 18.1 "Serena" and in Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 "Betsy", reaching this second system before through the live repositories together with the updated applications typical of this desktop.

Although there is still some work to do on Linux Mint 18.1, its developers promise a very stable and high quality environment, like the one that this system has previously provided on the basis of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Also, as an added detail, they have promised to include some little extra gifts for this next edition of Mint. We will see what surprises they have in store for us.

I suppose the Internet will be full of articles describing and listing the improvements and changes in these versions. But I have missed a list, albeit a small one, in this text. Still and everything, thank you very much for the article
