Linux Mint 19.2 "Tina" Now Available! But beware: its launch is not official yet

Download Linux Mint 19.2 now

Last Monday, Clement Lefebvre, lead developer of Linux Mint, published a monthly note from his project so short that we almost overlooked that it gave a very important piece of information: the next version of his operating system will be released later this week. Presumably I had everything ready and it was only a matter of time before I upload the images of "Tina", and that moment has already come: Linux Mint 19.2 is now available for download.

But one thing must be taken into account: the release is not official yet. Still, the images that there are available on your ftp server they are the same that we will be able to download when you announce their launch. Lefebvre did not give an exact date, saying only that he would release Linux Mint 19.2 "Tina" later this week. Being optimistic, we can think that the official launch will take place on Friday.

Linux Mint 19.2 to be officially announced this weekend

Right now we can download the ISO images of the three desktops where the next version of Linux Mint will be available: Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce. If you are wondering, it is available in both a 64bit and 32bit version. This is good news for owners of a 32-bit computer, since "Tina" will be an LTS release that will be supported until 2023. It is based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Among the novelties that will arrive with «Tina», we have:

  • Latest versions of Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce.
  • The Mint Tools have been improved, among which we have the update manager, the software manager and the system reporting tool.
  • Improvements in the menu, in the scroll bar, possibility to shortcut folders in the file manager and in file sharing (Cinnamon).
  • Improvements in the wallpapers.
  • Improved overall picture.
  • Performance improvements.

What will you do: will you download and install Linux Mint 19.2 or wait for its official launch?

The truth is that it is difficult to resist temptation. Linux Mint is an excellent all-rounder distribution (newbies, intermediate and advanced). This is excellent news.
Congratulations to Clem and his team who, despite having very limited resources, do an extraordinary job.
