Linux Mint could launch a new logo in the near future

New Linux Mint logo?

New Linux Mint logo?

If I'm not mistaken, Linux Mint It has had the same logo from the beginning. I remember trying it on my mini-laptop a long time ago and, always if memory serves me correctly, by 2011 or so I already had the logo that has become famous for being one of the best Ubuntu-based distributions for performance and options offered. But it seems that its developers, led by Clem Lefebvre, have thought about "renew or die" and, if we pay attention to what we see on their website, this could change.

In his this month's post He tells us about the news to come, among which we have improvements in the Mint tools or better performance in the Cinnamon graphical environment. We cannot say that they are not important improvements, but the part in which he talks about web design stands out: he mentions in parentheses a «and logo» that clearly seems an advance of what the website will be like. new logo de Linux Mint or, failing that, what is more or less what they have in mind.

Is this the future Linux Mint logo?

A decade ago, operating systems were elaborately designed. Among these details were shadows, shapes, reliefs and an endless number of additives that have been left behind in time. For several years now, the design of all modern operating systems has been much flatter, and it seems that this is what the Linux Mint team wants to update. As you can see, the logo that at least one server has known their whole life has a special shape, shadows and different shades of colors. The new logo would be inside a circle and would only have two colors.

What they do not seem to need to change are some letters L and M that look exactly the same. Personally, I almost totally agree with what they have in mind. I think the present of software design is very flat and clean and what shows a lot of details gives the impression of coming from the past. But I have to admit that I am not a person who likes changes, so if in the end they change the logo and it is this one in particular, will I have to get used to it?

The one that is flatter is the one they are going to change, the current one is much prettier, but if they change it, I will not leave Mint for it either, what matters is that Mint works very well, the rest is good, it is something anecdotal.
