about linux on dex

In the next article we are going to take a look at one of the technologies shown in the Samsung Developer Conference. This has been held last week in San Francisco. In it, creators meet to discover and learn about the latest technologies in the Samsung portfolio. One of the technologies shown off, after the initial demo in 2017, is Samsung's Linux on DeX.

Samsung DeX, launched last year, allows users of Samsung Galaxy devices enjoy apps on a bigger screen. This seeks a better viewing experience. Whether it's watching movies, playing games, or just browsing the web.

This year, Samsung announces beta release of Linux on DeX. Which extends the value of Samsung DeX to Gnu/Linux developers. Linux on DeX allows developers to build apps within a Gnu/Linux development environment, connecting the Galaxy device to a larger screen. Linux in DeX allows you to enjoy a Gnu/Linux environment Anytime and anywhere. Looking for a PC-like experience.

Samsung Developer Conference

Ubuntu is Samsung's Gnu/Linux distribution of choice for Linux on DeX. Many of the developers select Ubuntu as their development platform for most of the workloads. Samsung's research verified that it was also the favorite Gnu/Linux distribution among its audience. Samsung and Canonical have worked together on a modified version of Ubuntu 16.04 looking to provide the best experience for developers.

With certain models of compatible Samsung Galaxy mobile phones and tablets, developers can now access your favorite tools on the go. Using a Galaxy tablet provides enough screen space to eliminate the need for a second screen. While those who prefer to work directly from their Galaxy mobile device, will have shortcut to the command line interface.

The Linux app in DeX is now available as a private beta. Interested developers can register here.

The private beta It is only available for Samsung Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy TabS4 users. With Android Oreo system or higher. Samsung's full announcement can be read here.
