Lubuntu 19.10 is already among us. Arrives with these news

Lubuntu 19.10: what's new

In all families there are one or more little ones. If you asked me what I think is the little brother of the Ubuntu family, I would say that the version that uses the graphical environment LXQt. Today, along with the rest of the components, it has been launched Lubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine and, from my point of view, although they have already announced it and the ISO image has been available for a few hours, the release will not be 100% official until they update the website with the new information.

If a release is more or less official it is peccata minuta. The fact is that the stable version image is already accessible. Moreover, also They have published la News list that arrive with Lubuntu 19.10, among which we have some that he shares with the rest of the siblings of the family. You have the complete list after the cut.

Highlights of Lubuntu 19.10

  • Supported for 9 months, until July 2020.
  • Linux 5.3.
  • Initial support for ZFS as root.
  • LXQt 0.14.1
  • Qt 5.12.4.
  • Firefox 69, a version that the Ubuntu Security Team will support.

    • Improved language detection, providing automatic language and local time settings from the installer.

Although not mentioned officially (or in any other way), it seems that the Lubuntu team is focusing on polishing the move from LXDE to LXQt, something similar to what Ubuntu is doing in its GNOME-Unity-GNOME journey.

If you have never tried it, you have to know that Lubuntu is a operating system designed to be lightweight, not customizable or pretty. It is one of the best options if what we want is to revive old computers or those with limited resources. If you are interested in trying it, the latest version is available from this link.

I love Lubuntu, it is not as attractive as other distros with other more visual desktops but it is not ugly to me either. Although it is designed for less powerful computers because it is very light, I like to use it in a laptop that is quite complete with hardware and see how it flies. 🙂 If the base does not require just CPU or RAM memory so I can have these resources for other somewhat heavier applications.

my experience with lubuntu is wonderful at the end of the day what we want when we have a pc with a few years and with limited resources is that it works as well as possible and lubuntu fulfills very well in that sense it does not consume me more than 200 megabytes when starting and with the video player and telegram browser open, it does not reach 700 megabytes and to personalize it there are plenty of themes to install it .. that if I talk about the 18 04 with lxde from the 19 it consumes something more with lxqt

lubuntu 19.10 I did not like lxqt so much, I prefer the old desktop, it is not that light either, it consumes 326 megabytes, the same as kubuntu when booting, but the most obnoxious thing is the muon -discover combination, it was the first thing I uninstalled, with synaptic and gdbi was made up of such a horrible problem
