Mark Shuttleworth succeeds Jane Silber as Canonical CEO

Mark Shuttleworth

Since last week we have been hearing rumors about the departure of Jane Silber as CEO of Canonical, rumors that remain there with the silence on the part of those in charge of Canonical. But that silence has been broken and the rumors have finally become reality.

The current CEO of Canonical, Jane Silber, has said goodbye to the Ubuntu Community confirming the arrival of Mark Shuttleworth as CEO of the company.

Jane Silber has been Canonical's CEO and Ubuntu-related project leader since 2010. According to Silber, such arrival had a start date and an end date, that is to say, at the age of five, Silber would leave the management of the company.

Mark Shuttleworth to be CEO of Canonical again

But according to her, the CEO change was postponed for two more years due to the absence of a leader who is skilled or capable of running the company. Jane Silber has not reported the finding of such a person but has confirmed that after three months of transition, Mark Shuttleworth will once again be Canonical's CEO.

Jane Silber will stay on the Canonical Board and will return as COO of the company, a position where he will have to work eight days a day. With this, Jane Silber takes a step back. This fact confirms once again Canonical's intention to go public, an ambition that is neither good nor bad but that its arrival is making large projects come to fruition.

On the other hand, although it is true that Jane Silber has not had the charisma that Mark Shuttleworth has, it is true that under his leadership Ubuntu has grown enormously and this growth may stop or stagnate. In any case, Ubuntu keeps going thanks to its community and to all its members, since not only CEOs live a project.

    It was sung.
Ubuntu was not on the right track.
I hope that with 17:04 and future updates I can reinstall it as the primary system on my PC.
The 16:04 was my worst LINUX experience by far.

The owner of the ball stopped the game and fixed his box. Jane Silver is not Adam Willson or Gabriel Duval. Ubuntu is great thanks to Mark having $$$$ and making them perform at Canonical. Do not sell ubunter smoke.
