Mozilla Firefox 57, a new version that will improve the operation of our Ubuntu

Firefox 57

Mozilla has released a new version of its web browser, as planned. The new version is called Firefox 57 or also known as Firefox Quantum.

This new version was already popular, not because of its stable version but because of its tests announcing major changes to Mozilla's web browser. Changes that positively affected the browser and that made other browsers fall below Mozilla, browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Firefox 57 or Firefox Quantum present three novelties:

  • Engine change and memory management.
  • New minimalist interface.
  • New Framework for plugins.

These three new features make Firefox 57 the biggest update to the browser since its launch, at least that's what the hardcore users of Mozilla Firefox say.

Firefox 57 uses Quantum, a technology that greatly improves not only memory management and multithreaded but also communicates better with the system GPU and makes rendering faster and more efficient.

The web browser interface has also been changed. The new interface receives Photon's name. A simple but useful interface for the user. The Firefox logo has been changed as well as the menus and other characteristic elements of Mozilla Firefox.

But the most important thing for the Mozilla Firefox user will be the compatibility with the add-ons. Firefox 57 changes plugin framework, which causes many plugins to stop working with the new version. Fortunately, there are already updates for many add-ons for Mozilla Firefox 57, we can consult the list from this link.

The new version of Mozilla is worth it and is the start of a new beginning, a beginning that will be forged with future updates. In any case, if you want to try it and you don't have it in your Ubuntu yet, in this article we tell how to get the latest version of Mozilla Firefox.

Friends, do you recommend this browser, how does it compare to chrome and Opera? I ask you why I have Ubuntu 17.10 together with Windows 10 on a computer with 4gb d ram year 2009 ... will this browser be more efficient than others? Thanks!!

The Chrome I used little because it never convinced me and it consumes a lot of RAM and the opera I never used it. What I can tell you is that it improved compared to previous versions.

Hi Jose Luis, I have tried both and right now, it can be said that the advantage of Chrome over Firefox are webapps and extensions, but I imagine it will be a matter of time before this is corrected. Regarding performance, I think that Firefox 57 is superior or at least equal.
    Thanks for reading.
