National Geographic Wallpaper, an application to make our Ubuntu beautiful

The wallpaper or desktop background is something that all users of an operating system learn to change quickly. In Ubuntu, such action is no different. However, like me, the perfect wallpaper does not exist. We are always changing it to seek the best look for our Ubuntu or simply as a productivity tool.

There are many programs that do this task for us, but all of them use a directory on our computer to change the images.

National Geographic Wallpaper is a free program that personalizes our desktop

One of the most popular developers within Ubuntu, Atareao, has created a similar program that automatically changes the desktop background, but unlike other programs, it uses images from National Geographic. The program has been baptized as National Geographic Wallpaper and it is not only available as a direct download but can also be found in the official Atareao repository.

National Geographic Wallpaper connects to the National Geographic website, downloads the image in high definition and set it as default desktop background. In addition, the program has an automatic change option that will change the desktop background with images from the National Geographic repository. This option is something that we can change and modify to our liking.

To be able to install the program from the Atareao repository, we just have to open the terminal and write the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/atareao
sudo apt update && sudo apt install national-geographic-wallpaper

This will begin the installation of the program. Another faster option is download the deb package. We can do this from this link. Once we have downloaded it, we only have to double click on the package to start the installation. And if you do not want to install any program, there is always the option to do it manually from the National Geographic website.
