Nautilus, GNOME file manager, you will receive a major update at the end of September that will include a good handful of exciting news and some of them expected. It was Carlos Soriano, from the GNOME project, who has been in charge of sharing these news with all of us in an extensive entry that he has published on his blog.
The first thing Soriano talks about is the ability to rename multiple files at the same time. Right now, when I want to rename several files at the same time I do it via terminal and this is something I do many times when I have to rename several screenshots on the same subject. Soriano says that this option was already in other operating systems, such as the macOS Finder, but ensures that what they have prepared is the best tool we could have.
File compression integration
Although right now this type of file is managed with File Roller, this is not integrated with Nautilus. Many functions are lost, such as undo, redo, and the ability to close the application while it is running. All this will change with the arrival of Nautilus 3.22 and can be used from other GNOME software, such as Evolution or Epiphany.
Menu view
Soriano says there were some things to improve in this regard. The design team went to work to fix some problems that users had been reporting in passing. Now the list view and icons have changed and joined and improved menu to include all the options we could wish for.
Other New Features in Nautilus 3.22
- Managing separate desktops
- Improved the creation of folders from a selection.
- Floating bar hidden below the pointer.
The update will arrive By the end of September for all those operating systems that use Nautilus as the default file manager. What do you think of the news that it will include?
