The final version of Elementary OS 0.4 Loki is now available, the most anticipated version of all

Elementary OS 0.4 Loki

In these last hours the Elementary OS team has launched the first final version of Elementary OS 0.4 Loki, the new version of Elementary OS that is based on Ubuntu and that so many users are acquiring lately.

The success of Elementary OS and more specifically Elementary OS 0.4 Loki is in its appearance and Mac OS-like functionality but based on a stable and simple distribution such as Ubuntu.

Elementary OS 0.4 Loki is based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, a stable and long-standing version. The kernel of this new version of Elementary OS is Kernel 4.4, a quite updated kernel although not the latest available. The web browser of this distribution will not be Firefox or Chrome but Epiphany, a lightweight and powerful web browser that uses the Webkit2 engine, like Safari.

Elementary OS 0.4 Loki will still have his famous Pantheon desktop

But the novelty and the success of this version and of this distribution is in indicators and applets that help the user to bring out the best in the team. In this way, the Pantheon desktop applets or indicators have been renewed, so that the user has not only the elements most necessary for configuring the equipment at hand.

In this version we will also find a direct access to Bluetooth that will allow us not only to activate it but also to share files in a faster way between computers or devices. In Elementary OS 0.4 Loki we keep finding the Geary email program, an already typical program in Elementary OS, we also find Scratch instead of Gedit and a new appstore that will replace the Ubuntu Software Center.

Elementary OS 0.4 Loki incorporates the control panel and a parental control to the desktop

Elementary OS 0.4 Loki has had a development of more than a year, time in which MacOS itself has innovated and Elementary OS 0.4 Loki has copied it. So now we have a dashboard with all system notifications y parental control so that the little ones can use it without being in danger.

The installation image of Elementary OS 0.4 Loki can be obtained through the main page of the project. There we can get and install Elementary OS 0.4 Loki on any computer for free.

However, Elementary OS still lacks personality, that personality that characterizes any GNU / Linux distribution, although it could well be the same as MacOS, let's go a free version of MacOS Do not you think? What do you think? Do you think Elementary OS 0.4 Loki has a personality? Have you tried it yet?

No, it does not have a unique profile that differentiates it, when people see Ubuntu or earlier they cannot help but ask what system you use but with elementary there is no such evidence

It seems fatal to me that they have abandoned 32 bits
They could have endured one more version.

Do not abandon the 32-bit ones, because that supports the programmed obsolescence that the hardware companies place on the product, I bought a Compaq with Vista and could not update it to W 10, so I want to test the Linux OS
