Now available Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS, the new Ubuntu update

Ubuntu 16.04

As planned, Ubuntu already has the first update of its LTS distribution. According to the corresponding numbering this new version it's called Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS. This version not only includes numerous system updates but also includes the latest bug fixes that have been found as well as the solution that exists for the problem that appeared with deb packages.

In addition to this new version or rather this new installation image, the official flavors have released their corresponding version. That is, we already have the version of Kubuntu 16.04.1, Xubuntu 16.04.1, Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.1, Lubuntu 16.04.1 and Ubuntu MATE 16.04.1 available.

The new Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS includes the solution with the deb packages

In any case this version does not mean that it is a new version but a general update of the distribution, an LTS distribution that offers long support. It goes without saying that if we are using Ubuntu on production computers, we must have this latest version. To do this we have to go to "Software Update" and look for the new version or open a terminal and write the following:

sudo apt-get update && upgrade

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo update-manager -d

These commands will not only update our operating system but will force the latest version to be installed on our Ubuntu. As well are applicable to any official Ubuntu flavor, which also receive these updates as many of you know.

We do not know the number of updates of this LTS version but it will surely reach 4 versions, a number that seems to consolidate as the perfect number of updates that an operating system must have or at least it seems that way. In any case, as we mentioned, it is necessary to update the operating system, at least if we want to have a stable and secure system without any security problem.

    Hi Joaquin, I get this error

    W: http://debian.yeasoft.net/btsync/dists/unstable/InRelease: Signature by key 06ABBEA18548527F04A2FC2840FC0CD26BF18B15 uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)
    upgrade: order not found

    I have UBUNTU Mate and the truth is that for a long time I have had problems with updates, although the rest of the system works great for me because it does not give me errors and I run everything faster than with windows.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Joaquin when I run:

    sudo apt-get update && upgrade

    It gives me the following error

    W: http://debian.yeasoft.net/btsync/dists/unstable/InRelease: Signature by key 06ABBEA18548527F04A2FC2840FC0CD26BF18B15 uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)
    upgrade: order not found

    In the update I have several errors I am using Ubuntu MATE Desktop Environment 1.12.1 and I am with a work project that does not give me time to download another version, although except for the detail of the update I am doing much better than with windows 10 and I run the programs faster.

    I think the potential of Ubuntu would be much greater if it were a rolling relase system.

    Hello,
    I follow the steps to update to Ubuntu 16 but it always ends up telling me that there is no update for my computer. Now I have version 14. Can you tell me how to go to 16? In version 14 the laptop is very slow, with version 16 does it improve something or does it get worse?
    Thanks and regards

      Hello, instead of going to Ubuntu 16.04 or 16.10 the last one to come out, you will go to Lubuntu, a lighter version and just as competent for day to day.

    Could you help me? I have ubuntu 16-04 lts but I gave it a boot repair and now at the beginning I get the purple screen where I have to choose between two options: Ubuntu and the other is advanced settings or something like that. It says to press E for one thing or ctrl + c for another…. I don't do anything or select ubuntu and it enters normal, the pc runs normal there is no problem, but that startup window bothers me. How do I remove it?
