But we are already Friday (in Spain) and Canonical has released Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo Beta 1.
Yesterday a junior KDE Plasma developer explained to me that «when it is said that the first beta is already available, what is being said is that a version is already available that sometimes becomes an official beta and sometimes not«. In any case, today the launch (of the beta) is already official and anyone who wants to can try the first beta of Disco Dingo and all its official flavors. We remind you that some flavors usually release alpha versions as well if they think they need more time to test.
Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo arrives in exactly 4 weeks
El release of the official version will be on April 18. The atmosphere regarding the next version of Ubuntu is somewhat pessimistic, as we can read in this opinion article by Diego Germán published on our sister website Linux Adictos. And it seems that "the only" important thing that will reach all official flavors, that is, the only function they will share will be the Linux Kernel 5.0.x. Official integration with Android was expected, something that Kubuntu users can enjoy (KDE Connect) but not the rest of the flavors. The GNOME version is GS connect.
What will also be new will be the new versions of the applicationsie GNOME Core Applications for Ubuntu, KDE Applications for Kubuntu and so on for all flavors. Although this could be considered an important improvement, it is not mentioned as such because it is not necessary to update an operating system to enjoy this type of novelty; just add the official PPA to install it on a previous version of the OS without updating it.
