It seems that I was disappointed with the launch of Ubuntu's Yakkety Yak brand because of how limited it is Unity 8 it will decrease over time. The first thing that lessened my disappointment a bit was that the Linux Kernel included in the new versions no longer forces me to type several commands to make my WiFi network stable. The next thing will come in future versions of the operating system developed by Canonical.
My disappointment with Unity 8 came to me twice: for one, it still doesn't work on my laptop. On the other hand, those who can use it can only take a preliminary look at the graphical environment. The good news is that Canonical already has a roadmap scheduled that they will start using in April 2017, coinciding with the launch of Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus (And every time I read "Zesty" I remember figuring that would be the adjective, but I can't prove it ...).
Unity 8's First Major Stop: Zesty Zapus
Unity 8 will take an important overall step with the release of Ubunu 17.04. For starters, work will continue to ensure that convergence offers a seamless Ubuntu experience regardless of the form or device it runs on. Also, they want Unity 8 works perfect on touch devices and computers desktop. In order to assess the importance of this achievement, we can look at what Microsoft and Apple have done: the company that Satya Nadella runs has already launched it but, for example, the American NHL has shown that it does not work as well as it should, so less on touch devices. On the other hand, the apple company has confessed that it has been testing it, but that it has not been worth it and they have launched a MacBook Pro with a touch OLED bar above the numbers.
But most importantly, Unity 8 will offer a more evolved experience as early as April 2017:

New Features Coming to Unity 8
- Make Unity 8 a Snap. This does not seem like an easy task, so there will still be a long wait.
- Complete window management. This means that absolutely the entire graphical environment will be new; there will be nothing from Unity 7 in sight.
- Make it behave better in pointer environments (not tactile), such as changing the image of the indicators depending on whether we open it by touching it or clicking on them.
- App drawer. This will be a very important change that will replace the scope of applications and will include a more extensive launcher. When we swipe from the left, the launcher will appear; if we slide more, we will see the drawer.
- Multiple monitor support.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT UNITY 8: As you can read in this post Released in April 2017, Canonical has given up on Unity 8 and convergence and will go back to using the GNOME graphical environment. Yes, the community will try to keep the project alive, but Canonical will not do it.
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Objective: a complete Snap release

It may take longer than expected, but Unity 8 could be completely finalized with the release of the version to be released in April 2018, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. While I was writing this paragraph, how curious, MY SYSTEM IS FROZEN, a failure that I have not had in Linux I think never (thank goodness that WordPress does automatic copy). I explain all this because I would use the standard version of Ubuntu, but if it used a graphical environment like the one Canonical is preparing. Well nothing. Patience.

The "originality" of Unity back in 11.04 made me completely turn to Linux. And with time I was leaving Windows aside until I no longer even have it in my Notebook. I also get "dystrophic" and they don't last more than 4 months ... Now I'm wanting arch, and a gnome environment.
Interesting. You had to see and test -and check- because one thing is the ads and another the reality of what Canonical offers. At least what you see about the application launcher is attractive to me; the current famous scope seems to me an aberration that deserves an urgent redesign. Perhaps by 2030 or at the latest 2040 we will see the announced convergence that Shuttleworth proclaims so much.
They have finally realized that showing the dash in the desktop version as if it were just another window is an abomination.
Unity 8 on the desktop is very green, I do not find it comfortable to use. I hope they start to give it functionality to be able to give it some opportunity, in its current state I don't even bother.
