Nuclear Music Player, install this music streaming player

aboutNuclear

In the next article we are going to take a look at Nuclear Music Player. This is a pretty free music streaming app. It draws its content from various free sources across the internet (includes YouTube, BC Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Vimeo, etc). The application does its job in a similar way to mps-youtube, but the difference is that Nuclear is comes with a graphical user interface.

Nuclear is a music streaming application that "uses content from free sources over the Internet." The Nuclear developer describes this program as follows: «Imagine a Spotify, that you do not have to pay and with a larger library«.

This music player has a clean and simple user interface. We can search and play songs using search. First and foremost we will have to select the music source by marking the entries in the upper right. Then we will only have to use the search box to find the songs of our choice. That's it, it couldn't be easier.

The program will allow us to add songs to a playlist and save them. In addition, the Nuclear music player allows directly rip and download mp3 files from YouTube. We will only need a single click and without the need to use any other program.

I want to clarify that Nuclear is still a very young project. This means that the user may encounter some errors here and there. Although I have to say that I have not encountered any big errors while I have tried it. Nuclear is a practical application aimed at users who want a unified, distraction-free environment for streaming and downloading music from the most popular free sources to their computers.

Before we proceed to install the Nuclear Music Player in Ubuntu, let's take a look at some of its general features.

Nuclear Music Player General Features

nuclear sources available

This program is going to give us access to multiple music sources. This player comes with the ability to search and play music from Youtube (including integration with playlists), bandcamp (including albums), as well as soundcloud.

As for Youtube, too It will allow us to search for related songs or also download and save them in our team in a very simple way.

Another interesting search functionality is that we can also search for albums (powered by last.fm and musicbrainz), automatic search for songs based on the artist and the name of the track. Come on what we can perform multiple types of searches to find what we are looking for.

Since it comes with support for scrobbling to Last.FmOne of the easiest ways to get started with this application is to go to its configuration section. There we can establish the connection with the aforementioned service. Although I have to say that this is where I found the problem. Connection to Last.Fm did not always work.

The song queue can be exported as a playlist. Saved playlists that are stored in json format can be loaded.

A very good feature is that it will allow us listen to our favorite music ad-free. The quality of the music he offers us is high.

This program is Free, open source and cross-platform software.

Anyone who needs it can check all the features of this version of Nuclear on its home page. GitHub  or from the web page of the project.

Install Nuclear Music Player on Ubuntu 17.04

To install this program in our Ubuntu (I have tested it in Ubuntu 17.04) we can do it in two ways very easily. The first one will be using the .deb package on duty and installing it using gdebi. To do this, you just have to open the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and write the following:

sudo apt install gdebi

wget https://github.com/nukeop/nuclear/releases/download/george/nuclear-george-linux-x64.deb

sudo gdebi nuclear-george-linux-x64.deb

If we prefer to install this program from a AppImage file, we can download it from the following link.

Remove Nuclear Music Player from Ubuntu

If we have used the .deb package to install this music player and it is not convincing, we can get rid of it by typing in the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) the following command:

sudo apt remove nuclear

I installed it, and it went very well, but it turns out that for a few days it has stopped, it does not load, say that it was the Internet connection, but not since the other devices I have are going well, which may be, I gave it up and I have reinstalled it and nothing, I do not know what else to do, greetings.

Hello. The truth is that I have installed it since the day I wrote the article and it continues to work correctly, even though some discs do not load. As I said in the post, this project is still very young so failures are to be expected.

Have you installed it from the .deb package and from the AppImage file and neither of them works correctly for you?

I would tell you to check that you have installed or uninstalled from your system since the day it stopped working, perhaps something is interfering with its operation.

      Salu2.
