The new version of OBS Studio 27.0 has just been released and in this new version undo changes functionality was implemented, which tracks actions in the program that affect the preview, including changes to the scene, sources, groups, filters, and scripts. The change revert buffer includes 5 of the latest actions and is cleared when restarting or changing scene collections.
Another novelty that is included and is related to Linux, is that Support for the Wayland protocol is implemented, as well as the ability to use the PipeWire media server as a source to capture video and sound. OBS Studio can now run as a Wayland application and capture windows and screens in custom Wayland-based environments.
By default, OBS-Studio runs through XWayland and it can only record video from applications that are also launched through XWayland, but it lacks the ability to capture video from native Wayland applications.
Added a new screenshot method which works on multi-GPU systems and solves the issues of getting blank images on some hybrid graphics laptops (now you can't limit the output to the integrated GPU and capture the screen when using a discrete card).
As well provided the ability to attach transition effects to operations to enable or disable a source (video and audio capture devices, media files, VLC player, images, windows, text, etc.).
For macOS and Linux platforms, integration with transmission services was implemented (Twitch, Mixer, YouTube, etc.) and the ability to embed a browser window (Browser Dock) was added.
Added a dialog with a warning about missing files when loading scene collections, which works for all built-in sources including browser and VLC video. The dialog box offers options to select a different directory, replace a file, and find missing files. When you move all files to a different directory, you have the option of updating the file information in batch mode.
Of the other changes that stand out:
- For Windows, the noise suppression filter is compatible with the NVIDIA noise elimination mechanism.
- A Track Matte mode has been added to Stinger's transition effects
- Added support for textures in the SRGB format and the use of color operations in the linear color space.
- When saving a file, the full path to the file is displayed in the status bar.
- Added a virtual camera switch to the menu displayed in the systray.
- Added a setting to disable automatic camera rotation for selected video capture devices.

Installing OBS Studio 27 from Flatpak
In general, for almost any current Linux distribution, the installation of this software can be done with the help of Flatpak packages. They should only have the support to install these types of packages.
In a terminal they just have to execute the following command:
flatpak install flathub com.obsproject.Studio
In the event that you already have the application installed by this means, you can update it by executing the following command:
flatpak update com.obsproject.Studio
Installing OBS Studio 27 from Snap
Another general method of installing this application is with the help of Snap packages. In the same way as Flatpak, they must have the support to install these types of packages.
The installation is going to be done from a terminal by typing:
sudo snap install obs-studio

Installation from PPA
