This is one of the reasons why I fell in love with Kubuntu. Canonical's operating system with a KDE graphical environment is not only beautiful, but it is full of customization options and functions as soon as it is installed or, as they say in English, "out of the box". We have a perfect example in the news that this article deals with, although it is something that is yet to come: Okular will allow to show and verify signatures in PDF.
So they have published in their official Twitter account, where they link us to the video that you have below these lines. The new function will be available in KDE Applications 19.04, which is not to be confused with a new version of Plasma Desktop. The second is the graphical environment and the new functions only arrive if we add the official KDE repository, while the first is updated more frequently and will be available in Kubuntu 19.04.
Okular will be even better in the near future
«In # KDEApps1904, Okular receives support for displaying and verifying digital signatures in PDFs. This feature is essential for using the KDE document viewer for business or if you need to exchange official documents… such as an international peace treaty.
In the video they show us two things: how the new function will work, although if you blink you will miss it, and several historical moments where several treaties have been signed. I don't know if this is something that could really be done with Okular, but it looks good in the promo video for the show.
Kubuntu 19.04 will be officially released on April 18 day and, as we read in its Official Site, it is confirmed that KDE Applications 19.04 will be released alongside the new version of Kubuntu. So if what you need is to see and verify the signatures of the PDFs, Okular has something prepared for you.
