Ubuntu Touch OTA-10

ubports has released Ubuntu Touch OTA-10. This release has occurred three and a half months after the OTA-9 of an operating system that began with Canonical time before abandoning the project. When Mark Shuttleworth's company realized that convergence was not possible as they had imagined it, not today, it orphaned a very promising project that picked up UBports, who have been in charge of maintaining Ubuntu's mobile operating system. to the present.

As we read in the release note, the newly released version includes improved compatibility for the Fairphone 2, Nexus 5 and OnePlus One, more specifically improving the orientation of the camera and audio in the first and correcting the synchronization of video and audio in the other two. For all supported devices, the OTA-10 improves the reliability and speed of WiFi-based geolocation, made possible by the removal of "wolfpack".

Other new features included in this version:

  • Enhanced message app with supports for creating drafts.
  • Light and dark themes that join the default theme.
  • Libertine, the aLegacy application manager, now allows you to search for packages in the archive and select one from the list to install.
  • PulseAudio modules have been added that allow basic sound on Android 7.1 devices.
  • A mini SurfaceFlinger implementation has been added to enable the camera on some Android 7.1 devices

"OTA" is the initials of "Over The Air" (over the air) and the Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 was launched today in that way. This means that has started to appear as an update on all supported devices. If this is not your case, be patient. The release is gradual. Have you already updated? How are you doing?

Anbox is already working, only on some devices, not all. But if you depend so much on Anbox, Ubuntu Touch is not for you.

It would be good if they expanded the range of compatibility with other brands and models, in my case I want to have UBport in mine but it is not compatible and those that are, are not available in my country. (BLU DASH)
