Planet Blupi, a crazy strategy and adventure game for Ubuntu

about planet blupi

In the next article we are going to take a look at Planet Blupi. It's about a open source strategy adventure game which is free for Gnu / Linux, Windows, and macOS. It was also released under the GPLv3 + license. It is a real-time isometric strategy game similar to Blupimania. Planet Blupi borrows some songs from that game.

The current version of the game, which you can download from its website, has mainly the same look and feel as the original 1997 version, but with some bug fixes. Planet Blupi, also known as Planet Eggbert, is a strategy game and adventures in which action is subtly combined with thought-provoking challenges. Behind the calm and peaceful facade, you will enjoy a fun full of surprises. It is an ideal game for children from 12 to 99 years old.

Blupi lives a quiet life on his planet until a strange meteor crashes in a desert area. Only much later does he realize that his crops are being destroyed by huge spiders. Also, while he's always been a tough and healthy guy, a strange virus has been making him sneeze and cough a lot lately.

playing planet blupi

  • It has a basic interface but enough. This is designed to remain as discreet as possible, so that the user can have fun and concentrate on the game. There is no need for long strokes on the screen with the mouse. No time wasted choosing buttons and gadgets on a large screen somewhere out of reach. A small area on the left provides general information about the mission in progress. When you want Blupi to perform a specific action, you just have to click on the correct place on the stage. A palette of available actions will appear in which we will only have to choose one. Actions are smooth and fast.
  • The game also offers a limited series of optional exercises to learn to play.
