When I talk about Unity I usually do it to speak ill of the graphical environment that Canonical introduced with the arrival of Ubuntu 11.04. But Unity did come with something that I liked, although I prefer it at the bottom of the screen: a launcher where we can anchor the applications we use the most. But although I like it, I like it in part and I prefer other options such as Plank, one of the most popular Docks for Linux.
If I have to put a problem with Plank, it is that, by default, it does not have many themes to choose from, which can make us have to settle for one of those it offers and we may not like it. The good thing is that we are talking about software for Linux, so we can modify it at will. In this post we will provide you three themes for Plank.
How to install themes for Plank
The available themes, created by Ken Harkey, are as follows:
Anti Shade
Shade
paperware
To install them we have to follow these steps:
- The first thing we have to do is download the package by clicking on the image at the end of the post.
- Logically, the next step is to unzip the .zip file downloaded in the previous step.
- Now, we open our file manager and go to the folder where we have unzipped the file.
- We copy the folders «anti-shade», «shade» and «paperterial».
- We go to our personal folder and press Ctrl + H to show the hidden files.
- Let's go to the folder .local / share / plank / themes and we paste there the folders that we have copied in step 4.
- To use these new themes, we will right click on Plank, on the Dock, we will choose Preferences and tab Appearance we choose one of the new themes in the «Theme» option.
Personally, I think I stick with the Shade theme. Which of these three themes for Plank do you like the most?
