Plasma 5.18.2 now available with changes that improve the user experience in the KDE environment

As programmed, KDE has released a few moments ago plasma 5.18.2. This is the second maintenance release in this series, one that needed some love because it had been released with many bugs that they began to correct themselves In the past week. As a point release, it does not include new features, but it does include fixes that will make using the KDE software closer to what we would have expected prior to the release of a major graphical environment update.

KDE has published two articles on this release, something that is not new. At first of them tell us about availability, while in one second they mention all the changes introduced in the new version. In total, Plasma 5.18.2 has introduced 47 improvements, like the following that Nate Graham told us about in his weekly articles in which they tell us about the news they are working on.

Some of the new features included in Plasma 5.18.2

  • Fixed two common crashes in KWin when using the Plastik theme.
  • Plasma on Wayland no longer crashes when you disconnect a secondary display.
  • The KRunner Activities corridor now works again.
  • The cursor no longer looks different when hovering over the desktop for new user accounts until the first time the cursor theme is changed.
  • The new Emoji panel is not so slow anymore and now works for all languages ​​and locales.
  • Shadows behind desktop files and folders now look correct when using a high DPI scaling factor.
  • The currently active window decoration theme is highlighted once more on the Window Decorations page of System Preferences.

Plasma 5.18.2 has already been officially announced, which means that it is now available in code form. In the next few hours it will arrive at Discover, as long as we have the KDE Backports repository added or we use an operating system with special repositories like KDE neon.
