Plasma 5.21.1 arrives fixing the first bugs, but few really important

First fixes for KDE Plasma 5.21

Just a week ago today, the KDE project He launched a new major update to your graphical environment. Unlike the previous one, this one either has not come out with serious bugs or they are not telling us about them. And it is that 5.20 was a disaster, at least according to KDE and for the operating system that it controls the most, its KDE neon. Today they launched plasma 5.21.1, the first point update to arrive with minor fixes.

As usual, KDE has published several posts about this release, being one of them the one that mentions all the changes. The project tends to use a not very pleasant language, so we will do the usual, put a News list Unofficial best explained that Nate Graham already passed us last weekend.

Plasma 5.21.1 Highlights

  • Keyboard repeat is no longer disabled.
  • The Task Manager, once again, allows you to run executable programs not provided by the distribution you have pinned.
  • Plasma Wayland session no longer hangs on login when using an Nvidia Optimus laptop.
  • Trying to log out no longer just fails, which sometimes happens.
  • The sleek new Plasma System Monitor application introduced with Plasma 5.21 no longer hangs on startup when not using the optional Systemd startup feature.
  • The hard drive activity widgets now display the correct information again.
  • Clicking on a screenshot in Discover now displays the correct one.
  • Kickoff App Launcher now works with a stylus.
  • Plasma no longer takes long to load when the splash screen is disabled when using the optional Systemd startup feature.
  • KWin's window manager retrieves an option to disable screen tearing protection and maximize refresh rate regardless of what the GPU says.
  • The back arrow in the System Preferences sidebar header no longer looks bad when using a non-Breeze icon theme.
  • Synchronizing user settings with the SDDM login screen now makes the non-default font settings apply there, at least when using SDDM 0.19 or later.
  • Section headings in the "All Apps" category of the new launch menu are no longer lowercase when the first item in that section begins with a lowercase letter.
  • Wobbly windows again wobble properly.
  • Discover no longer truncates reviews displayed on app pages.

The launch is already official, but that does not mean that it will reach everywhere right now. Yes it will at any time, if not already, to KDE neon, but the rest of the distributions will still have to wait for something else. Kubuntu won't receive it until the 21.04 release.
