Plasma 5.26.1 arrives with the first corrections, among which there are several aesthetics

plasma 5.26.1

Just a week after point-zero version release,KDE just launched plasma 5.16.1. This is the first maintenance update of the 5.26 series, one that has arrived without initial shocks. Still, no one would tell, as four days after launch quite a few bugs had already been fixed. Although it is also true that what diminishes the experience are the big bugs, and not many small ones that are practically not even noticeable.

For example, Discover no longer freezes for a few seconds when launched without an internet connection, and the media player widget works better. On the other hand, some aesthetic tweaks have been made, such as now Chrome web applications no longer use the same icon when they are pinned to the task manager. The following is a list with some of the bugs fixed in Plasma 5.16.1.

Some of the bugs fixed in Plasma 5.26.1

  • Discover no longer freezes for a few seconds when launched without an internet connection, and is now faster and more responsive to transient network issues with remote resources on your backends.
  • The Media Player plasmoid now does a better job of handling applications with very basic MPRIS implementations, such as Totem and Celluloid.
  • While resizing is now explicitly supported, Plasma widget popups no longer respond inappropriately to Maximize and Minimize keyboard shortcuts.
  • The system no longer becomes unresponsive after using the "Turn off screen" shortcut.
  • Dragging screens to reorder them on the System Preferences, Display & Monitor page no longer scrolls the view or drags the window instead of moving the screen.
  • Chrome web apps no longer use the same icon when pinned to an icon-only task manager.
  • In the Plasma Wayland session, when using a multi-screen layout with external screens not being mirrored, the system no longer sometimes sees them as mirrored anyway and inappropriately enables Do Not Disturb mode, and also no longer forgets the on/off status of those screens.
  • Discover is now significantly better at reporting overall progress information when Flatpak apps are installed or updated.
  • Fixed a regression in Plasma 5.26 with some XNUMXrd party KWin scripts.
  • Images that come from a symlink reappear in wallpaper slideshows.
  • The infamous "Korners" bug has finally been completely fixed. The last issue - light colored dots in the rounded corners of dark panels - is now fixed.

Soon on KDE neon

plasma 5.26.1 has been launched a few moments ago, and should soon be coming to KDE neon, the system that most controls the KDE project. They also have control over their Backports repository, and will add new packages if they think they are stable enough. It will reach the rest of the distributions depending on their philosophy and development model.
