Plasma 6.0.3 now available with a great cleanup of bugs of some importance

plasma 6.0.3

When KDE released the Mega-Release of 6, was quite satisfied. Aside from a few bugs, which curiously affected KDE neon more than any other distro, everything had gone pretty well. Who would have thought, since a few moments ago have thrown plasma 6.0.3 and contains a fairly extensive list of bugs. And be careful, what we will include here is part of what they make public on weekends, and if they inform us it is because they are errors of some importance.

One can only choose to think that the entire desk is being polished and that it is for the better. Otherwise, Plasma 6 would not be as we had been told, that is, something much more mature that would make us forget the infamous KDE 4. But it is true that those who have already uploaded to the new versions are mostly satisfied. Let's go with one list of bugs fixed and new features in Plasma 6.0.3.

Bugs and news in Plasma 6.0.3

  • Dragging widgets to or from panels no longer sometimes causes Plasma to crash or the widget to ghostly get stuck on the desktop.
  • In Wayland, adding a second keyboard layout causes the corresponding systray widget to appear immediately, rather than only after Plasma or the system is restarted.
  • Fixed a way Bluetooth pairing could fail.
  • On X11, the OSD screen selector works again.
  • Breeze GTK is once again the default GTK theme.
  • Fixed the login sound again so that it actually plays.
  • The float/unfloat animation of the floating panel when using a scaling factor has been smoothed out, both when using a scaling factor greater than 100% and in general.
  • Fixed a fairly common way in which System Settings could crash when applying a new window decoration theme.
  • Plasma no longer crashes when playing certain music videos on Spotify.
  • Fixed a recent regression in System Monitor that caused it to crash when discarding changes after editing a page.
  • Fixed a strange issue that could cause certain XWayland windows to continually resize when using certain fractional scaling factors in Qt 6.7.
  • Relaxed KWin's requirement in Wayland that XWayland windows can only get the contents of the clipboard when they have keyboard focus, as this was not a requirement in X11 and their implementation was breaking some applications that use XWayland.
  • Fixed the boot sound, which had stopped playing when booting after all the sound-related changes made for Plasma 6.
  • Fixed a recent regression in Fitts' Law compliance in Qt on X11 that could cause panel widgets to not activate when clicking on pixels right against a screen edge.
  • Fixed a recent regression that caused the network speed displayed in the Networks widget to always appear crazy high.
  • Fixed a recent regression in multi-monitor setups that caused Task Manager widgets to display tasks on the wrong screen and notifications on X11 to appear in the center of one of the screens, instead of in the correct position.
  • Fixed a recent regression in System Monitor that made it possible to drag pages up when reordering them, but not down.
  • Fixed a recent regression in tile colors in System Monitor widgets that use the Color Grid display.
  • Improved robustness of the code that migrates custom global shortcuts from the old KHotKeys service to the new KGlobalAccel service.
  • Fixed an issue with cursor-based camera control in some games in Wayland.
  • Subpixel previews on the Fonts page of System Settings now display correctly in Wayland.
  • The compact global menu button is now disabled when the current application has no global menu, instead of disappearing and causing the panel content to bounce.

plasma 6.0.3 It is now available and will soon be coming to KDE neon and the purest Rolling Releases distributions. Later it will reach the rest in a time that will depend on the philosophies of each project.
