QupZilla: what it is and how to install it on Ubuntu 16.04

QupZilla browser

Are there enough web browsers? I think the answer should be yes, but we can always find that our browser does not include a function that would make it perfect. Having options is always positive and today we introduce you to Qupzilla, a web browser based on Qt very light that has an ad blocker installed by default. In addition, other extensions are also available to make QupZilla an option to consider.

If we want install some extensions, just go to the menu Edit / Preferences / Extensions, from where we can install some such as GreaseMonkey or a password manager. Logically, QupZilla does not have (not even remotely) as many extensions as Firefox or Chrome, but it does not intend to, being its intention to be a lightweight and functional browser, something that I think it achieves.

QupZilla, a Qt-based browser to consider

If you are not happy with your current browser, you can try QupZilla 2.0. At the moment, the version in the official Ubuntu repositories is 1.8.9. To install the latest version it will be necessary to add its repository and install it, for which it is enough to open a Port and write:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nowrep/qupzilla && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install qupzilla

From what I have tested, QupZilla is a lightweight and stable browser, so I think it's worth a try if that's what you are looking for. The problem that I have encountered now as the first time I tried it is that it does not have as many extensions as Firefox available, and there are some that I cannot work without. It is something that also happened to me in its day with Epiphany or the hyper-simple browser that is installed by default in some versions of Ubuntu. And it is that good intentions are not everything; we users want to have many options. Have you tried QupZilla? What do you think of this web browser?
