A few days ago Google developers that are in charge of the operating system "Chrome OS" presented the launch of the new version of the Chrome OS 75 operating system. This is an OS based on the Linux kernel, upstart system manager, ebuild / portage tools, open components and the Chrome 75 web browser.
The Chrome OS user environment is limited to a web browser and instead of standard programs, web applications are used on the system, however, Chrome OS includes a full-featured multi-window interface, a desktop, and a bar of homework.
What's new in Chrome OS 75?
In this new version of Chrome OS 75, the environment for launching Linux applications that has been added is highlighted to allow applications to use established VPN connections.
In other words, through the existing VPN connections of Android or Chrome OS, all traffic from the Linux environment can be wrapped in an existing VPN.
As well We can find that for the Linux environment, the ability to access Android devices connected through a USB port is also implemented (In main Chrome OS environment, user must configure option to share USB port with Linux environment).
While for file manager added support for third party document providers (arbitrary external repositories) that support the DocumentsProvider API.
Also the user can install applications based on this API and access the files in the sidebar through the selected document provider.
That feature will be complemented by new third-party file options that can now be mounted in the files app. (Sans Dropbox) The ability to access various file apps will also be a huge plus for businesses, making the transition to Chrome OS a bit easier.
Besides it in Chrome OS 75 added the ability to display content with copyright protection (DRM) on a secondary external monitor.
On the other hand and not least we can find the support to print with a PIN code (When sending a print, the user sets the PIN code and then confirms the print by entering this PIN on the printer keyboard).
This confirmation ensures that an important document will be printed on the desired printer and will not be mistakenly sent to another device.. The feature is available only when the system is operating in a controlled manner and with the support of IPPS and the working password attribute of the IPP attribute.
The parental control media added the ability to provide children with additional bonus time working on the computer.
Of the other news that we can find in this new release of Chrome OS 75 are:
- For children's accounts, a voice assistant has been adapted for the Google Assistant for children, Family Link is Google's set of devices and usage controls.
With this, parents can now give their children more time on devices with Chrome operating system. Furthermore, a "Child Wizard" can also be enabled for child accounts. - Additional protection against MDS (Microarchitecture Data Sampling) attacks on Intel processors.
- Another notable update in 75 comes in the form of major improvements to tablet mode in Chrome OS.
How to get this new version of Chrome OS 75?
This new Build of Chrome OS 75 is available for most current Chromebooks. Although if you have not received the update yet, you should not worry, because the deployment of this new version will be released gradually for the different devices.
On the other hand some developers have formed informal versions for ordinary computers with x86, x86_64 and ARM processors.
