How to reset Ubuntu to its original state via Resetter

Resetter is an app still in beta which has been designed to easily reset Ubuntu and / or Linux Mint to their original state. For this it will no longer be necessary to reinstall it, a few clicks will suffice. This can be very useful for administrators who need to maintain a large number of computers.

This application has been built with python and pyqt. As I have already said, this will help you reset an Ubuntu or Linux-Mint system to make it look like freshly installed. As if it just installed without having to reinstall manually.

The software offers us two options. The first is "automatic reset«. This will reset Ubuntu / Linux Mint to its factory defaults. With it, user accounts will also be completely deleted. The program will ask you to click on the button that will appear in a confirmation dialog box to verify that you are sure of what you are going to do. Once done, there is no going back.

The other option is «custom-reset«. This provides us with a step-by-step wizard to choose applications, old kernels and users to remove. This will allow us to have greater control over what is going to happen in our operating system.

As I have already written above, the software is currently in its beta phase. It is not recommended to install it on production equipment!, At least for the moment. You have to be a little aware of the news that arise about stable versions of the project. At the moment it must be used at the own risk of each one.

You can download the .deb package on the project page from the following link. On the same page you can also find the appropriate instructions to install it from the terminal. At the moment on the page they tell us that they do not have the PPA ready but that it will soon be available to everyone.

In case during the installation the system tells us that dependencies are missing, on the GitHub page they give us the necessary commands to satisfy them and thus be able to install the program correctly.
