Royal-Gtk, give your Ubuntu a very slick flat look

One of the things that most attract Linux users is its immense capacity to be personalized. This customization can range from changing the settings of the kernel of Linux so that it adjusts to our parameters of efficiency, going to configure by hand certain aspects of the system so that —for example— it makes backup copies of our files automatically to completely change the visual aspect.

Precisely about customizing the visual aspect we are going to talk in this article, and it is that with thousands of options available, Why are we going to settle for what is offered to us as standard? One of the advantages we have being Ubuntu users is that we can go anywhere we want and change whatever we want, so Why not tweak the appearance of our operating system?

To achieve that today we bring you Royal-Gtk Theme, a modern, elegant visual theme according to the latest trends in icon design, composed of elements dark y and, too based on Numix. In fact, it is a modification of the original Numix theme because it was too dark in some respects, and has been the work of Sultan Al Isaiee, who has later shared his work with the public.

As for Royal-Gtk contents we can highlight less dark colors, a dark toolbar for GTK3 applications, a theme dark for GIMP and Qt Creator, new window controls similar to OS X and borderless windows. This theme was originally designed to work only with the Unity desktop, although under Linux Mint it seems to work as well.

We take this opportunity to remember that if you want to modify the appearance of your Ubuntu then you need to have Unity Tweak Tool installed on your computer. In order to use Royal-Gtk, open a terminal and enter the commands that we give you below:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/themes
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install royal-gtk-theme

Hello, a question. Do you know how to make the background of Nautilus windows black?

      install gconf-editor
then look in the folder tree for nautilus there you will see all the configurations look for the one in the background in the color section it should be #ffffff which is white you can replace it with another combination example # 111111, # 333333, # 999999, they are dark colors too You can make combinations # 111225, # 22aa22, etc. Each combination will give a specific color until you get the one you want. Save and go

The subject is beautiful aesthetically, but it has its flaws and they are very annoying.

For example, if you open two gedit tabs, you have to pay close attention to which of the two has the focus, that, or get used to reading the title of the focused document, which I never usually do because Ambiance clearly sees the that is in focus. I love the theme, but I don't use it just for that.

A similar thing happens to me with the Numix theme, but with the windows, that is, the title and the buttons of the window that has the focus are white and those of the windows that do not have it go to a kind of gray, but it is so smooth that I can never be sure which window has the focus (obviously, I'm talking about windows that are not maximized).

Both Numix and Royal are excellent aesthetically (especially Royal, for my taste) but with annoying details in terms of functionality.

Ah! And another flaw for both Numix and Royal is that the launcher icons stay dead when you press them. In Ambiance, however, after pressing an icon it stays blinking (this is configurable, I think) and indicates that the application is opening, which I find very useful especially on computers that take some time to open them.
