A colleague already told us about this program It's been a few years on this blog, but a few days ago it reached version 1.0. This program has been in existence for more than 3 years, although I have to admit that it is the first time I have tried it. I have to say that I really enjoyed reviewing it, as it offers lightness, speed and quite a few features in a very small player.

As I say, it is a fast and lightweight player, written in C ++ supported by the Qt framework. It is exclusively available to Gnu / Linux users. This tool stands out for using Gstreamer as an audio backend and for having many features accumulated in a fairly small tool for everything it can offer us.

The application is accompanied by a development approach where your concern for the high performance, low CPU and memory consumption. This fast and light player is multilanguage. Its installation is very simple. It will provide us with the characteristics and the necessary compatibility to achieve its purpose, which is none other than "listen to music”. It also has integration with various platforms, including the famous Podcast that today are giving a lot to talk about. The way I see it, it has many qualities that make it worthy of a chance.

  • In this latest version, date filter support was removed. Added button «Delete selection«. As well MTP device support removed.

How to install Sayonara Music Player 1.0 on Ubuntu

For install the latest Sayonara Music Player on Ubuntu and its derivatives, we will be able to use the repository that its creator makes available to users. To add it we will only have to open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and add the official PPA by typing:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lucioc/sayonara

Then we will only have to update and install the player through the following script that we can paste in the same terminal:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install sayonara

For those who do not want to add a new PPA to their list, they will be able to download the player .deb package.

Uninstall Sayonara Music Player

If we finish liking this player, we can remove it from our system. We will have to open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and write the following script in it:

sudo apt remove sayonara && sudo apt autoremove

To eliminate the PPA, we can do it through the Ubuntu Software tool, in the Other Software tab. We can also delete the repository by typing in the terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:lucioc/sayonara
