If you use Mozilla's browser a lot, you have surely suffered: you click on a tab from the touch panel, move the pointer and the tab moves with it. Automatically, a new window is created, something very annoying if it was not what you intended. There are many users who have complained about this behavior and Firefox 74, currently on the channel Nightly, has included a new option that will prevent us from continuing to suffer.
Like many other Mozilla browser settings, the new option is available on the page about: config of Firefox 74. Making the change is very simple, but we will have to remember the line to modify or revisit articles like this each time we restart the browser settings. Here we show you what value we have to modify and what to do if we want to separate a tab after making the change.
Prevent tabs from peeling off in Firefox 74
The process to prevent the tabs from coming off and taking them off after the change would be as follows:
- In the URL bar of Firefox 74 or later, we enter "about: config" without the quotes.
- If we have never entered before, we will see a warning that it is a dangerous area. We accept. As information, if we deactivate the check box, the notice will no longer be shown.
- We look for the following: "browser.tabs.allowTabDetach", without the quotes.
- We double click to change from "true" to "false". By changing the value we can already verify that the tabs do not come off. Yes we can reorder them.
- If we want to detach a tab, we have to right click / Move tab / Move to a new window. After the right click we can also press the «V» key twice.
And that would be all. At the moment the function is available, which will arrive in march, we will have to decide if the problem of detaching the eyelashes is very serious or if its speed is good for us in our day to day. Right now, I have doubts, but I think I will change it as soon as I can. How do you prefer it?
Yes, it is very annoying, it has happened to me several times. I am going to implement the solution. It is appreciated. Greetings.
What a fabric he thought he was the only one who was raging with this problem. I usually use ESR and am already thinking of quitting Firefox.
Thanks, it drove me crazy, how they screw people, are firefox developers morons? ha
