Spotify already has an official application in snap format

spotify

Yes, I know that there has been an official Spotify application for Ubuntu for a long time. But the news is not that but that the application has been released in snap format for the latest Ubuntu versions and for those distributions that are compatible with this new package format.

This is a breakthrough considering that the latest versions of Ubuntu always had problems with the official client due to changes in the libraries or desktop changes. This has come to an end.

From now on, any user can install the official Spotify client and use it without having compatibility problems, since the snap format uses the container technology that makes this possible. What's more, this version supports the Gnome notification system and even with its extensions, so we can control the playback of songs from a Gnome applet and even from other add-ons.

To install it, we just have to go to the Ubuntu Software Center and search for Spotify or use the terminal. For the latter we just have to open the terminal and write the following:

sudo snap install spotify

After pressing enter, the installation of this software in our Ubuntu will begin.

Spotify is a popular application that has made many users start using Gnu / Linux, although we have to say that the company still does not recommend Gnu / Linux, that is, they claim that development for Linux is not as strong as development for Windows or MacOS. In any case, the official client works perfectly and even has some functions that other operating systems do not have as control through the sound applet.

But not everything is joy, surely that with this launch, many unofficial clients will stop being used and with this their development will be closed. But Is this a good thing? What do you think?
