In the next article we are going to take a look at Sweet Home 3D. It is a free design software application that helps users create a 2D plan of a house, with a 3D preview. It will also allow us to decorate the exterior and interior view along with the possibility of placing furniture and appliances. In Sweet Home 3D, furniture can be imported and arranged to create a virtual environment. It can also be used to design house plans. In the following lines we are going to see how to easily install the latest version of Sweet Home 3D on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04 and higher.
As I said, Sweet Home 3D is an editor CAD of engineering, architecture and construction licensed under the GNU General Public License. With the furniture and accessories that we can use, we will be able to design a home in a 2D plan, which we will be able to see thanks to its 3D preview. We can even record a video touring our design.
If you like interior designThanks to this application, the user will be able to visualize how their home will look according to the place the furniture occupies. With this, anyone can make the combination task easier, which can be complicated when we are not sure how to exchange the furniture and objects that we already have.
The application will offer us a good variety of predesigned elements. These will be enough to give us a fairly accurate idea of how our house will be after making some improvements. Even if these elements are not enough for us, from the page of free 3D models (in English) we will be able to get hold of more than 1100 3D models created by contributors. All these models can be used thanks to furniture import assistant by Sweet Home 3D.
Sweet Home 3D will also allow us import libraries of 3D models stored in SH3F files. An SH3F file groups models with their description. This can be easily installed by double clicking on it or choosing from the menu Furniture → Import furniture library.
Sweet Home 3D is available in Spanish, English, French or Portuguese. Also can be run on Windows, Mac OS X, Gnu / Linux and Solaris.
