Ubuntu 16.04.2 delayed to Feb 9 due to major kernel glitch

Ubuntu 16.04.2

It is likely that some of you are waiting for tomorrow to be able to install the second revision of the Xenial Xerus brand, that is, Ubuntu 16.04.2. If so, I have some bad news for you: you will still have to have a little more patience because Ubuntu 16.04.2 versions and all their official flavors will be delayed to February 9. We recall that, even before this delay, the launch of this version was scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, February 2.

Yesterday, Leann Ogasawara, Ubuntu kernel team manager, reported to the community that your team has recently found a serious boot regression on ARM64 hardware, so developers will need a few more days to correct this problem. What developers will try this week is to release new versions of the kernel and other packages that do not contain this flaw.

Major bug found in Ubuntu 16.04 kernel

For this reason, the team led by Ogasawara asked for a postponement for the release of Ubuntu 16.04.2, to which Canonical's Adam Conrad quickly responded by informing the community of this delay. This would be the second time Canonical has delayed the release of the next revision of the latest LTS version Ubuntu, but users should be able to update / download the new version within eight days.

Among the novelties that will arrive with Ubuntu 16.04.2 we have the Linux kernel 4.8 and, highly demanded by users, an updated graphics stack based on a new version of the Mesa 3D graphics library. You will continue to use the X.Org Server 1.18.4 display server but, even so and as always, it will be worth updating, especially considering that we are talking about a revision of an LTS version or Long Term Support.

As always, starting next 9 February We can either update our operating system, if we use Ubuntu 16.04, 16.04.1 or any official flavor, or download the new ISO images with the updates already included in them. Of course, as long as they do not surprise us with another delay.

They made a mistake in writing ... It is until next February 9, that is, in 5 more days. Not for November.

I could never use it, after installing it doesn't download any programs, I don't have support for some audio formats, etc. I don't know if it will be my computer's problem, but 12.04 and 14.04 work very well for me.

Ubuntu is well worth a bit of patience.
They have enough credibility to trust that there is a good reason and that the problem will be solved.
It's funny how we attack any linux distro by delaying the launch of its latest versions when windows is a disaster in the first months of its launch.
We skin Ubuntu and accept each other's shit as if they were inevitable ...
Anyway, I hope, I love Ubuntu.

I prefer to wait and that everything is well polished, this is precisely to be admired, those who worry about not launching it to finish polishing it, I use xubuntu 16.04.1 and I am super delighted.
