Ubuntu 16.10 already has an official mascot

ubuntu pets

The final release of Ubuntu 16.10 is very close and, as in every edition, a new animal from the African continent will identify this distribution going forward. Such curious creatures as badgers, koalas or lynx have passed through its distributions, all of them being collected in beautiful Wallpapers to decorate the most precious desks.

As we have already been announcing for months, the new distribution of Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak, it will have as a pet a curious logo whose image and color scheme by default we present below in this news.

The new Ubuntu distribution logo will soon occupy all the advertising posters, t-shirts and other products of merchandising based on a design whose result has been the most sober this time. Through a simple image that well recalls an origami figure, we are presented with Yuppity Yep, the new Ubuntu 16.10 mascot.

In addition to the typical promotional products, the mascot will make an appearance in the carousel of images that appears in each installation operating system. The warm orange color typical of this distribution has been maintained and thus consolidates the company's image with respect to its operating system.

Ubuntu 16.10 will be ready to reach our teams next october, with a support of 9 months where new functionalities and improvements will be incorporated that update the current Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus. Later a new version with extended support will arrive. We are talking about Ubuntu 18.04, which we will hear about in April 2018.

What do you think of the new mascot that has been created for this distribution? Do you like its minimalist design?
