Ubuntu 16.10 is now available

Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak

As it was marked in the official Ubuntu calendar, the new version, Ubuntu 16.10 is now available for download and update. As well as it will be soon in its official flavors.

And although Many of us already know what's new in Ubuntu 16.10 Through its developments, the final version does present some novelties that were not previously confirmed, such as the kernel version or some desktops and the versions in which they will be present in the new version of Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 16.10 will have kernel 4.8, a kernel that has been presented a short time ago and that will have to be updated soon by Canonical as well as other distributions since a serious bug has been found.

Ubuntu 16.10 will have the Kernel 4.8 but not its update

Gnome 3.22 will not be found in Ubuntu 16.10 as it has not had time to update its files, but yes we will have Gnome 3.20, a stable version quite updated and stable. What has given time is to include some Gnome 3.22 libraries, libraries that will use certain Ubuntu programs.

Systemd will not only continue but will also manage user sessions, something interesting because it seems that it will join with the new Unity 8 desktop and with the new graphical server MIR of Ubuntu.

In any case, if you still do not have Ubuntu on your computers or you want to do a clean installation, in this link you will find the installation images as well as Ubuntu Yakkety Yak torrent files.

If, on the other hand, we have Ubuntu 16.04 or another previous version, in order to update to the new version we have to open a terminal and write the following:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo update-manager -d

This is how we will prepare the equipment for the future update. Now we write the following and the update will begin:

sudo do-release-upgrade -d

With this, the system update will begin, although it is a step that possibly does not give many results at the moment because the update will be released in bulk and some users will take time to receive this new version as is currently the case on mobiles, but with the installation image this can be solved.

    Is already installed. I haven't seen anything yet, beyond adjusting fonts and sizes.
