Ubuntu 17.04 skips the first Alpha of its official flavors

Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zappus

As any Ubuntu fan will know, shortly after the Ubuntu 16.10 release Yakkety Yak Canonical got down to business and began preparing Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus, the next version of its desktop operating system that will be officially released in April. The Daily Build by Zesty Zapus are available from the end of October, but it seems that the official flavors will still have to wait to launch their first alpha version.

Shortly after, around this time, Canonical usually leaves all the way paved for some of its official flavors to launch a first alpha version that allows them to collect data reported by users to be able to profile their operating systems. This year, this first alpha had to arrive on December 29 for all those flavors that would like to launch it, but it seems that finally they will not arrive. The reasons are that, in addition to coinciding with Christmas and the new year, no one stepped up to be the Community Mileston Coordinator, that despite Ubuntu Kylin saying it would launch a first alpha.

The second alpha of Ubuntu 17.04 flavors will be released on January 26

All the alpha 2 by name, since in fact they will be the first for all the flavors based on Ubuntu 17.04, they will arrive for all the flavors that want to launch it on the day January 26. It is important to note that it will only be released by those official flavors that want to do so, which means that the version we use may not launch the second alpha that is expected in about three weeks. Later, Beta 1 and Final Beta (Beta 2) will arrive on February 23 and March 23 respectively, and among these betas will also be the standard version of Ubuntu.

If, like me, you still have problems with some of your equipment's hardware, you will be happy to know that the entire Zesty Zapus brand will arrive with the kernel 4.9, but Canonical is working to see if they can include version 4.10.

The official launch of Zesty Zapus is scheduled for the April 13 And if there are no surprises, that day there will be a new member of the family: Ubuntu Budgie. The family grows.
