Ubuntu 17.10 will be called "Artful Aardvark"

Ubuntu 17.10

As Canonical has used us for years, each new version of Ubuntu has a codename made up of two different words that begin with the same letter. The first word is usually an adjective while the second refers to an endangered species or a mythical character.

The most interesting thing is that all these nicknames are set in incremental order, so if Ubuntu 16.04 was called Xenial Xerus, the next version 16.10 came with the nickname Yakkety Yak and the latest version available so far, Ubuntu 17.04, came with the nickname by Zesty Zapus.

This left people wondering what the next version of Ubuntu might be called, Ubuntu 17.10, bearing in mind that the company had to return to pick up the alphabet from letter A.

Artful aardvark

Unlike previous versions, this time there was no official announcement by Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth regarding the Ubuntu 17.10 codename, but thanks to a Launchpad page we already know what the next version will be called. operating system: Artful aardvark.

What does Artful Aardvark mean?

I guess everyone knows that "artful" refers to one thing. full of art or skills, but the name “aardvark” (aardvark or oryterope) is something that not everyone knows what it means. At least I didn't know.

According to Wikipedia, aardvark or orichterope "It is a species of tubulidentate mammal of the Orycteropodidae family native to Africa, where it lives in savannas and wooded areas where it finds food."

In addition, it is one of the species that has managed to survive the Ice Age, and in fact this animal was portrayed in the animated film series Ice Age.

When will Ubuntu 17.10 “Artful Aardvark” arrive?
