Ubuntu 22.04.3 already uses Lunar Lobster's Linux 6.2

Ubuntu 22.04.3

Canonical has released the third point update for Jammy Jellyfish a few hours ago, which coincides with Ubuntu 22.04.3. There is no official note with many details, since what they have made available to us is not a new version of Ubuntu, but new ISO images that include all the news that have arrived in the months that have passed since the launch of the second point update, available from February of this 2023.

Following the arrival of a new LTS version of Ubuntu, Canonical releases these types of updates every six months or so, and does so in part to update the kernel. Jammy Jellyfish arrived with Linux 5.15, and may not work properly on computers released since April 2022. Ubuntu 22.04.3 already using Linux 6.2 which we also find in the entire Lunar Lobster family that arrived last April 2023. Those who have not updated and want to stay on Linux 5.15 can follow our tutorial published for Focal Fossa (20.04).

Ubuntu 22.04.3 ISO is now available for download

The other most notable novelty that has arrived with Ubuntu 23.04.3 is that it now uses Table 23.0.4. As for the rest, Canonical has taken the opportunity to update some packages, such as those for Firefox and Thunderbird, while others are kept to continue with the stability that LTS versions are supposed to have.

Existing users need not worry. Everything new that Ubuntu 22.04.3 brings will already have been installed along with the rest of the updates, as long as the graphical update tool has been launched or done from the terminal with sudo apt upgrade. 22.04.3 is actually the numbering of the new ISOs that are available for download, and what is now offered in ubuntu.com.

The next maintenance update will be 22.04.4 and should arrive in February 2024.
