Ubuntu 23.04 begins its development and already has a release date

Ubuntu 23.04 April 2023

With the name already revealed, only three things were missing before you could really start thinking about Ubuntu 23.04. After knowing that it will be called Lunas Lobster, the next thing was to start its development, know the exact date of its landing and that they publish the first Daily Build. For a few hours, the only thing that remains pending is that we can download the ISO images, since Budgie's brother has announced on the social network Twitter that development has begun.

As for the launch date, Canonical usually chooses the third third of April and October, that is, around the 20th, and if Kinetic Kudu did it last October, Lunar Lobster will arrive snapping its tweezers on April 20th 2023. They still have to roll up their sleeves and start adding things, but some of the things that will arrive are already known, or at least the first thing they have in mind.

Ubuntu 23.04 will arrive on April 20, 2023 with Python 3.11

As we read in ad, posted by Graham Inggs:

We have opened the archive with Python 3.11 as support, OpenJDK 17 by default, and the transition to Perl 5.36 is underway. There are a number of packages in lunar-proposed that need to be fixed for these additions.

Therefore, and if they do not back down in the next six months, Ubuntu 23.04 will arrive with Python 3.11 "as support." The latest version is much faster than 3.10, but keep in mind that having the newest is not always the best; Kodi developers, for example, like to take things a little slower and stick to the version of Python that Android and Windows use, so if we want to use some addons, we will have problems. Although hey, those problems are also in 3.10...

As for the rest of the news, little is known, but it is expected to arrive with Linux 6.2 and GNOME 43 in the main version.
