Ubuntu Cinnamon 20.04 is ahead of the rest of flavors and launches its first beta

Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix 20

Just two weeks ago, the developer of the Cinnamon version of Ubuntu that is currently in development He launched an ISO image in which we could see the final interface of Ubuntu Cinnamon 20.04. Currently the name of the operating system is Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix, but it will change to Ubuntu Cinnamon when it becomes an official flavor. And that is its objective, to enter the Ubuntu family in the medium term, which could coincide with October of this year or April of next year.

Today April 2 the first beta of the Focal Fossa family will be launched. All images will be uploaded at the same time, and that is something that the "cinnamon" version has been able to skip because at the moment it still has nothing to do with Canonical. A little over an hour ago, Itz swirlz, lead developer of the project, has posted the links to download Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix 20.04 from Sourceforge y Google drive.

Ubuntu Cinnamon 20.04 LTS will also arrive on April 23

Ubuntu Cinnamon 20.04 Beta now available for download! Report bugs to @ItzSwirl or @launchpadstatus

The release notes will be published on April 16, where we will be able to know all the details, such as functions, applications and more. The final version should arrive on April 23, the same date that Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Focal Fossa will arrive and all the official flavors. As they are not part of the official family, they are not obliged to release the final version that day, but it would not be surprising if we consider that Canonical has already been a few hours ahead of today.

Like the rest of flavors, Ubuntu Cinnamon (Remix) 20.04 includes Linux 5.4, where Canonical has added a support for WireGuard that they have brought from Linux 5.6. The official flavors will have a 5-year support, like all LTS versions, but we will still have to wait until the 16th to know this and other details of this release.
