Ubuntu launches a contest to create Christmas apps for Raspberry Pi

Ubuntu and his team recently launched an app creation contest, or rather Christmas-themed snaps packages that work on Raspberry Pi and Ubuntu Core. This contest will not only have prizes for the winners but their apps will be exposed on the Ubuntu YouTube channel.

The contest will be valid until January 3, 2017 and the selection of the winners will be published on January 5, 2017. To participate, you only have to upload the snaps packages to the official store according to the indications that Ubuntu states and they must be compatible for both Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi 3 .

Ubuntu may not have the most powerful hardware related to its software but little by little its apps and applications increase to solve problems for users. This Christmas app contest is not something that enriches developers but it will be something that makes more developers create or begin to engage with snap packages.

After this contest, our Ubuntu will have more Christmas apps

In the official announcement of this contest, Ubuntu recommends downloading first Ubuntu core and install it on Raspberry Pi. Then you have to download the Snapcraft tool for creating snap packages. And when we have the Christmas app created we have to upload it to the store so that everyone can install and use it.

This type of contest is really interesting, not only because of its prizes but because of the fact that Ubuntu encourages the creation of apps for its new ecosystem and also because developers will start creating apps for Raspberry Pi, a platform that Ubuntu has avoided for years and now it seems that it wants to work with it, but not with its official version.

In any case, if you want to know more about the contest or some examples of Christmas apps, in this websites you will find it.
