Ubuntu Mate 16.04 will strengthen its appearance

MATE is one of the best known desktops within Linux. Its fame came for its design similar to Gnome2 which many consider its successor. Its expansion has reached almost all known Linux distributions and without a doubt on its own merits, since it is one of the lightest desks and at the same time with a more accomplished look that exists.

Ubuntu is one of the distributions that has been able to host this desktop with great success in its distribution, and the next edition of it, 16.04 MATE, will come with very interesting news regarding the visual section. Of Client Side Decoration and GTK Header Bar we talk to you.

Through an image that Martin Wimpress, MATE developer, has posted on his Google+ profile, we can see what the second beta that is preparing for later this month looks like, which includes Client Side Decoration (CSD). If you look at the desk each of the shadows are rendered and in applications that present support, their size can be adjusted. Overlays are also drawn correctly thanks to CSD although it can also be executed without it, although without shadows as would be logical in this case. Also look at the edges of the windows, which lack the black corner defect which does appear on Ubuntu's default desktop with CSD.

The integration also reaches the buttons, the scroll bars or the themes of GTK2 and GTK3, which now appear much better aligned. Much of the work has also been advanced in Qt4 and Qt5 and their integration with widgets. All this will provide a great consistency in the final appearance of the desktop regardless of the tool that is used for its design.

Another component of desk decoration but not discussed as often are header bars or header bars. In this case it is possible to appreciate how can be aligned between applications and others without any difficulty.

With this development that Wimpress has presented to us, it seems that finally in MATE its lightness will not be at odds with good design.

Very good. Because it's really ugly. Functional but horrible: /

You may not like the default theme, at least I don't like that green very much and it's the first thing I change, but it accepts the same gtk3 themes.

In the end they will "decorate" it so much that it will stop being light ... and yes, I agree with Juanjo Riveros, it is ugly, ugly

I had mate in the team for a while and it didn't seem ugly at all. He kept that spirit that gnome had in his time. But of course, my cinnamon is still the one I like the most for today.

I did like it, the green also who does not like how you can change it no problem, and of course as long as it does not leave its original format, which is what differentiates it from the rest, well perfect.

I installed it and I like it although the software center lacks more work, such as the search option.
