Main new features of Ubuntu MATE 22.10
Martin Wimpress has worked enough in this new version to provide an experience similar to Debian MATE edition and in this new edition of Ubuntu MATE 22.10 we can find a lot of improvements to the MATE desktop, new AI wallpapers, among other things.
Of the most important changes that we can find in Ubuntu Mate 22.10 is that the MATE Desktop and Ayatana Indicators release updates have been included They fix a variety of minor bugs. The main change is for MATE Panel, where it is mentioned that a version of mate-panel 1.27.0 has been included along with a set of patches that adds center alignment of panel applets.
Besides it we can find the new “MATE user manager” that allows the user to be able to add, modify and delete user accounts.

Another change that stands out in the new version is that removed NVIDIA proprietary drivers on installation media and thanks to the full migration to Yaru legacy themes and icons were also removed. With this now the themes and icons of Yaru-MATE are completely in Yaru.
As for those who are worried about NVIDIA drivers, there is no need to be alarmed, since just check the box for “third-party software and drivers” during installation and this will download and install the proper driver for your GPU.
