Ubuntu Studio will "reboot" with Ubuntu 18.10

We have recently learned that the Ubuntu Studio team, one of the official Ubuntu flavors, plans to "restart" the official flavor and give it another approach that maintains the same distribution philosophy but in a more updated and active way for its users.

Thus, Ubuntu Studio pretends to give a blow of effect and make more users opt for this official flavor as well as to keep going, because during the last months its development has not been very active and the continuity of the official flavor is in danger.

Ubuntu Studio is an official Ubuntu flavor that uses Xfce as its main desktop but that differs from the other official flavors by having a great package of graphic and multimedia tools so that as the installation is finished, the user can create with Free Software.

The lack of support and the ease of Ubuntu in post-installation has caused many users to abandon Ubuntu Studio in pursuit of Ubuntu or Xubuntu. The developers of Ubuntu Studio have reported that for Ubuntu Studio 18.10 they will give a coup that will go beyond a simple facelift, will offer something spectacular that has not yet been published. It will maintain its philosophy so it is clear that we will continue to find tools such as Vlc, OpenShot, Gimp or Inkscape.

There is also talk of a desk change, something that could be striking and even something harmful for the most faithful users of this official flavor since a heavy desktop could hardly be on computers that work fairly with Xfce, but we will have to wait to see what changes Ubuntu Studio makes in its official flavor. And I hope they are positive since the official flavor is not going through its best moment, to get an idea, Ubuntu 18.04 will be a normal version and it will not be LTS since the team cannot afford it. We will keep you informed of the matter, but What do you think? What do you think will change in Ubuntu Studio? Will it be a new reboot or its final shutdown?

Question in what lies the difference between installing it right now that Beta2 came out or doing it when the final end of April comes out ??? (note: I already did and I think it's great) *

It is technical. The beta2 is one of the development phases before accommodating it to its final version (Stable) which is supposedly the final one and suitable for user use.

The differences between a beta and the Real Candidate / Final Release are usually quite significant, since their difference is usually the "instability" of the system or application errors, as well as last minute changes in their services (certain applications are changed by others, certain services are not supported, something specifically changed like an environment or filesystem, etc).

Thank you very much for the information friend to take it into account, actually I installed it on another HDD disk just as a test!

You're welcome. These versions are focused on testing by developers from all over the world in order to test it on a greater number of computers with different features and see the faults in these.

For this reason, simply use it in a virtual machine itself or old equipment to test it (so the tests and others) but never approach them as your main work system precisely because of those failures that may cause you (above all it is due to the loss of any information and time).

Ok thanks again so when installing it one can contribute to future errors for when the final one is out. . . (actually that is what I do, I use it on a computer that has two hard drives, one that is only for testing) greetings!
