Ubuntu will have an Augmented Reality helmet

Helmet with Ubuntu Core

There are only a few days left for the MWC in Barcelona to arrive and although we will not see spectacular devices from Canonical, we will see new and interesting gadgets for many. Thus, in addition to Fairphone 2 with Ubuntu Phone, we will know an Augmented Reality helmet with Ubuntu as the brain of all this.

The Augmented Reality helmet with Ubuntu will be manufactured by the DAQRI company and it will be a helmet to use with intelligent functions. You will not have anything to do with the Oculus Rift and of course you will not be able to play with this device but its functions are interesting.

DAQRI's helmet will be controlled by Ubuntu Snappy Core, official flavor that will be on an Intel Core M processor, an infrared sensor, a camera, a microphone, and a heat sensor. Being more similar to an IoT device than to a Virtual Reality glasses.

Ubuntu Core will be the official flavor that controls this Augmented Reality helmet

The idea is that this Augmented Reality helmet helps in delicate operations in certain companies, providing complementary information to the user, something like Microsoft's HoloLens currently do. But at no time will the DAQRI helmet have Virtual Reality functions.

The Augmented Reality helmet of the DAQRI company will be presented at the MWC but beyond this event, we do not know when it will arrive in stores, how much money it will cost or if we can get one for ourselves or for our company. In any case, thanks to Free Software and Free Hardware, I highly doubt that this device will not can be played and copied as is happening with other devices.

Currently the Mycroft gadget is having as much success as Amazon Echo and I have no doubt that the DAQRI helmet will be as successful as Facebook's HoloLens or Oculus Rift glasses What do you think?
