Use the Pomodoro Technique in Ubuntu with Tea Time

Tea time

Surely many of you already you know the Pomodoro working method which consists of performing several periods of time and resting other periods. To do this, a kitchen tool called Pomodoro is usually used, hence the name. Pomodoro is a simple timer that rings when the time is up.

This can also be done with mobile apps but it makes us have to leave the computer to be distracted by the mobile. So it is useful Tea Time. Tea Time is an application written in Python that will help us control the times as well as create other types of personal timers.

Tea Time Installation

Tea Time is called the time to serve tea, for which this timer is also used. In any case, its operation is simple. On the one hand we mark the time of the period, we press «Start timer»And the window will be minimized in the Unity panel. When time is up an alarm will sound in Ubuntu that will notify us that the period has ended. As you can see, it is simple, just as simple as its installation. Tea Time is not in the official Ubuntu repositories so we will have to open a terminal and write the following for installation:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:teatime/ppa
sudo apt update && sudo apt install teatime-unity

After this we will already have Tea Time in our team. Something that we will recognize by its egg shape that closely resembles the real pomodoro clock, but this time it will only be your icon.

Tea Time is written in Python so it is a very light program that will not load our Ubuntu with many resources. It also needs everything that Ubuntu has so we will not need to have extra libraries or install other add-ons for its operation. In any case, if you really want to try Pomodoro's working technique on your Ubuntu, try Tea Time, it's worth it.
