The free and open source video editor OpenShot has released a new beta. OpenShot 2.0.7 beta 4 has been released to improve stability and performance, as well as has added some new functions that we will detail after the hack. Version 2.0 uses an engine written in C ++ that allows its files to be exchanged between platforms, at the same time it switched to PyQt5. We remember that the first version of OpenShot was only available for Linux and with the second version it has also reached Windows and Mac.
What's New in OpenShot 2.0.7 Beta 4
- Improved compatibility and stability on Windows and Mac.
- Support for image sequences.
- Added a new file properties dialog showing all known video and audio details about that file.
- Initial support for opening projects created in older OpenShot versions.
- Faster timeline performance.
- Improved the project saving process.
- Support for ImageMagic is now optimal.
- Correction of various bugs.
If you want to try this and other OpenShot betas, you just have to open a Terminal and write the following lines:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openshot.developers/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install openshot-qt
OpenShot is available in the Ubuntu default repositories, but of course these repositories do not include beta versions. The most up-to-date version available in the default repositories at the moment is OpenShot 2.0.6. Right now there are some issues with dependencies in Ubuntu LTS 16.04 (Xenial Xerus), so if you are testing the next version of the operating system developed by Canonical or some of its variants, you will not be able to install the repository.
At this point, I would like to know which is your favorite video editor on Linux: OpenShot, Pitivi, KDEnlive or if you have another suggestion that may be more interesting. Do not hesitate to leave your opinion in the comments.
